“Grief is like the ocean, it comes in waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim.” -Vicki Harrison
Who Attends Group:
This Adult Grief Support Group is filled with compassionate and kind individuals who are all grieving and healing from the loss of a partner, child and/or family member. All demographics and religions are welcome. All stages of grief are welcome.
If you feel alone or like you’re being a burden to your family and friends, this group will provide you with a place to talk with others who understand and want to be there for you. This group will help you understand the grieving process by learning from others and you will learn that there’s no “right or wrong” way to grief and mourn.
Rules to the Group:
All that is asked, is that you be respectful and compassionate towards others. This is an open group that attends every week for an hour. Though it’s a group, it’s meant to be a good support source for you, as an individual. I encourage that all members contribute by sharing their personal feelings while listening to others. Please try to restrain from giving advice on how someone should be grieving; however, please do offer any suggestions that worked for you and you’re healing process. As you are finding out yourself, you don’t know what you may need right now but it’s best for you to figure that out without judgment from others. With that said, participation is not necessary, as it may be too hard for you to speak right now. You’re welcome to just listen to everyone’s stories and/or ask questions. There are no expectations.
